Today's sermon explores the profound responsibilities of a Christian husband, emphasizing that true love and leadership within marriage are only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. The call to love one's wife as Christ loves the Church is not a command that can be fulfilled through human effort alone—it requires a man to be deeply rooted in God’s love, experiencing it firsthand before he can extend it to his wife. True marital love is not based on mere performance or duty but flows naturally from a heart transformed by the gospel.
A husband’s fulfillment comes through sacrificial love, not self-seeking. He is called to lead his family as Christ leads the Church—not as a ruler, but as a servant who initiates, provides, cares, and protects. His leadership must be spiritual, guiding his wife in faith, prayer, and holiness, ensuring she flourishes because of him, not in spite of him. He must also safeguard his home from harm—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—disciplining his children with love and keeping his marriage free from external pressures.
Provision and cherishing go hand in hand. Just as Christ gives freely to the Church, a husband must give generously to his wife, honoring and valuing her in word and deed. His love must be exclusive and unwavering, reflecting the covenantal nature of God's love. Ultimately, a husband’s calling is not about power but about self-denial. True satisfaction and joy in marriage come not from seeking one’s own comfort but from laying down one’s life in love, just as Christ did for His people.

Today's installment of the Spirit Filled Husband series focuses on the Duties of Love. Love compels a husband to a life of duty to his wife and ultimately, a man's greatness is measured by the kind of man he is not just in public, but particularly at home.
In expounding the subject, Pastor Adeola presented seven different ways by which husbands can demonstrate their love to their wives. He stated that a husband has a duty to his wife:
1. To fight his selfishness. 2. To be present. 3. To take initiative. 4. To lead spiritually. 5. To protect. 6. To provide. 7. To cherish.
He taught that selfishness is the source of disorder in the world and is also what causes chaos in marriages. However, as Christians we have been freed from the control of selfishness and get to practice leadership and authority as exemplified by Christ who in loving service washed the feet of his disciples and showed that to love is to practice self denial.
Christian husbands need to rely on the Holy Spirit continually and seek godly accountability to do this. God calls husbands to be kind of men that are present in the lives of their families. The love that the Christian husband displays must be founded on the personal and ongoing experience of Christ's love for his bride.

In today's sermon, Pastor Adeola continued the Spirit-Filled Husband series, exploring the sanctifying and sustaining love of Jesus for His church. He explained that Jesus intercedes on our behalf to deliver us from God's judgment so that He can sanctify us.
His Word is the instrument of this transforming love, and true transformation requires us to immerse ourselves in it and walk in obedience to it. The body of Christ is inseparably connected to Christ—His love is not out of obligation but of necessity.
The redeeming sacrifice of Christ was made unconditionally and as an example for us that we may draw power from it to extend same to one another.
