“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
The five solas of salvation, (or of the Reformation), which form the bedrock of our faith in Christ, include sola scriptura (Scripture alone), solus Christus (Christ alone), sola fide (faith alone), sola gratia (grace alone), and soli Deo gloria (glory to God alone). These concepts were gleaned from the biblical positions on the ramifications of salvation, being careful to thoroughly capture the very heart of God concerning how his salvation is dispensed to his people. In this sermon, Deacon Andam explained the biblical principles behind the solas as well as the implications of each of them to the one who has received the salvation of Christ. It is imperative that anyone who professes saving faith in Christ, has a working knowledge and understanding of the five solas so that their faith is predicated upon the true principles as clearly stated in the scriptures. A salvation that is true is a salvation that is rooted only on the five solas.

Throughout the course of human history, efforts have been and continue to be made towards reconciling differing people, culture, ideologies and so on in an attempt to find common ground for peaceful existence as a precursor to progress. Men believe that reconciliation between people will bring lasting solutions to the problems of the world. But the greatest reconciliation, and the most effectual, which the world needs, is reconciliation between man and God. Only this can bring eternal peace and security in the hearts of man. And in Christ, God has reconciled men unto Himself and extended the privilege of ministering same to the world through the instrument of his church. We are still here because we are meant to be ministers of the gospel of reconciliation. We must search and prove in our hearts that we have received true reconciliation and extend this privilege to as many as it pleases the Lord to bring our way.

The greatest problem we have; the one that we cannot remove at will, is sin. This is the problem that is internal to us and draws all other kinds of problems into our lives such that no matter what level of sanity we can muster by trying, the problem of sin inside of us always comes to taint this sanity in varying measure. Therefore, in the eyes of God, the one problem that trumps every other is the problem of sin. And until God by his mercies washes and cleanses us from the leprosy of iniquity, we will find that our lives remain miserable in this world and most certainly, the world to come. Sin, like Naaman’s leprosy, begins deep within us and only God can deal with this disease by the washing of the blood of the lamb.

The scriptures are clear and emphatic; the Lord has granted His children uninhibited access to His throne of grace and mercy where we can find the kind of peace that passes all human sense, one that thrives far above our circumstances, bringing answers to our every prayer and guaranteeing that we joyfully live above every situation as the Lord takes us through. When we "take it to the Lord in prayer", we draw from the only inexhaustible well of abundance where we find the answers to our every prayer. At the feet of the Lord, all His children are guaranteed all things pertaining to life and godliness.
