Without God, our lives are vanity upon vanity. There are no good options for satisfaction in life ‘under the sun’ outside of faith in Christ. The pursuit and acquisition of possessions, power, popularity and pleasure is tantamount to despair and emptiness because life must be viewed from ‘above the sun’ with God in mind. It is only when we consider God in reverence, acknowledge Him and desire to please Him, will we experience peace and contentment. Our Deacon, Kwaw Andam takes us through two conclusions, two commandments and two convictions to explain we were created by God, are beings with temporal bodies and an eternal soul to save and will meet God as judge before whom we must give account for the life we lived.

Fighting Temptation | Lord’s Day Sermon | 21st January, 2024 | Wole Akande

Satan is a crafty and cunning adversary, lying, plotting and distorting God's commands and goodness to tempt believers to sin against God. When Adam fell into sin in the garden of Eden, Satan was further empowered in his rebellious defiance of the one true God as he carried on his attempt to turn many away from God through his tempting ways. But in Jesus, we have a savior who resisted and overcame temptation in the wilderness by knowing the Word, living and walking by the Spirit, and through prayer. Because Jesus overcame sin, we too have victory through his full obedience to God's command. Armed with this truth, believers in Christ are able to overcome and his ways. Brother Wole Akande labored to bring these truths into our hearts as he preached from Genesis 3.

God made a promise through the prophet Isaiah to establish a cornerstone that will never fail. This cornerstone is Christ, the rock upon which the salvation of men is rooted and established. There is no other way by which our lives can enjoy the security of an eternity with God apart from being anchored upon the rock that is Christ. He is the chief cornerstone and that is what this sermon by our deacon, Martin Obono, seeks to establish.

In the second part of this sermon, our pastor continued to labor to admonish us to beware of ourselves and our motives and conduct in our walk with the Lord, that we may consider if we are truly serving the Lord for his sake or for our gain. Are we participating in the graces given by God as his children or as impostors seeking to gratify ourselves and be a stumbling block for true believers? We must be circumspect about our devotion that we may truly tell if we belong to the Lord.

What Is Your Life? | Lord’s Day Sermon | 10th December, 2023 | Martin Obono

Based upon James 4:13-16, this sermon sought to draw our attention to the futility of a life not entirely hinged upon Christ and his will for our lives. Being blind to our own pride, we are prone to carry on as though we have control of even the next second of our lives. James admonishes that we ought not to like that, but instead to always consider that our lives and outcomes are entirely in the hands of our maker and Lord, knowing which we must then cast all of ourselves fully on him.
