In today’s message, Doing It God's Way, part of our Genesis series on Beginnings, Pastor Adeola Ogundele looks at Genesis 16 to warn against taking matters into our own hands. Sarah, weighed down by barrenness and cultural shame, urged Abraham to have a child with Hagar—choosing a human shortcut over waiting on God. This decision brought lasting pain.
Pastor Adeola reminds us how easily we slip into trying to “help God out,” especially when our identity rests on things like marriage, children, or success. Yet our worth is not in what we achieve, but in God’s grace to us in Christ.
God is working out His glory and our good, calling us to wait on Him rather than compromise. Unlike the saying that God helps those who help themselves, Scripture shows He helps those who cannot help themselves—He acts for those who wait for Him
