In this sermon Pastor Adeola centers the message on true Christian gratitude, arguing that many believers, especially within the Nigerian church, misplace their sense of thankfulness by prioritizing material blessings over spiritual realities. The depth of a believer’s gratitude is shaped by what they perceive as their greatest need; when salvation, forgiveness of sins, and reconciliation with God are not seen as primary, gratitude becomes shallow and conditional.
The sermon emphasizes that the believer’s greatest gift is not earthly success but salvation in Christ, being delivered from sin, transferred from darkness into God’s kingdom, redeemed, forgiven, and granted an eternal inheritance, which is ultimately God Himself. True maturity, therefore, is marked by a deep awareness of sin and an even deeper appreciation of grace.
Christians are called to cultivate daily thanksgiving rooted in the gospel, live with eternal perspective, and express this truth in worship, teaching, and even music. This ultimately, shifting focus from temporary desires to the enduring glory of redemption.

The book of James makes it clear that trials are not optional; they are part of the Christian journey. The real issue is not their presence, but our response to them.
In this sermon, Deacon Ezekiel encourages us that God uses trials as a refining process. Like metal purified in fire, the believer is shaped through difficulty into Christlikeness. Therefore, Christians are called to remain steadfast, to endure, not quit, and not seek sinful or premature escape. Endurance is active, not passive; it means continuing to obey God, love others, and do what is right even when it is difficult.
Many respond to trials by disengaging, neglecting responsibilities, relationships, or spiritual disciplines, but true comfort comes from remembering the gospel, that God is present, at work, and committed to our good even in hardship.
Ultimately, James declares that the one who remains steadfast under trial is blessed, for they will receive the “crown of life” promised to those who love God. Trials, therefore, are not meaningless interruptions but instruments in God’s hands to strengthen faith, shape character, and prepare believers for eternal reward.
